Synopsis
In 1990, Richard Minnich, the father of filmmaker Rick Minnich, lost his memory in a car accident. He no longer recognised his wife and children and had a great deal of difficulty with the simplest daily tasks. The doctors were baffled, as there was no evidence of brain damage or other physical causes. For the family, it was a nightmare. From one day to the next, the man they knew as their husband and father had become a stranger. Rick is the oldest from Richard's first marriage. He had been out of touch with his father for a long time but decided to take his camera and film the consequences of this tragic event for his family. He talks with his family members and an old colleague of Richard's, and reconstructs the period of time just before and immediately following the accident. Rick not only discovers many emotions that were never dealt with, but also uncovers facts that shed a different light on his father's memory loss. Was Richard really struck by a horrible affliction, or was he perhaps trying to escape from a life he couldn't continue to lead?
