Festival

Markets & Funding

Alongside the festival, two documentary markets take place during IDFA: Docs for Sale and the IDFA Forum. The IDFA Bertha Fund stimulates the documentary climate in developing countries.

Training & Education

To stimulate new talent and high level documentary production, IDFAcademy organizes workshops and training programs for both filmmakers and producers.

IDFAcademy during the festival


During IDFA, the IDFAcademy offers an intensive four-day training program for emerging filmmakers and producers from EU countries, giving them the opportunity to meet a esteemed documentary professionals who share their knowledge of the industry.

IDFAcademy Summer School


A tailor-made training program which offers emerging talent an opportunity to strengthen their documentary projects. The 2014 edition took place June 30-July 5, with a group of renowned documentary makers again guiding the participants.

Two Dutch Workshops


Every year, IDFAcademy organizes two workshops for DUtch-speaking participants in cooperation with the Dutch Cultural Media Fund. In the seven-month IDFA-Mediafonds Workshop and the six-month Kids & Docs Workshop, participants develop a plan for a short documentary.

IDFA Bertha Fund Harvest 2014 October 28, 2014 | IDFA has selected a total of 10 documentaries made with financial assistance from the IDFA Bertha Fund this year. Each year, the IBF provides support in two selection rounds to documentary projects from developing countries.
IDFA Forum Selection 2014 October 14, 2014 | The complete list of projects selected for IDFA Forum 2014 has been announced.
IDFA Bertha Fund introduces European program September 1, 2014 | The IDFA Bertha Fund is launching a new program: IDFA Bertha Fund – Europe. The new program will support the production and distribution of documentaries realized through co-productions between European producers and producers from developing countries.
