Eyal Sivan presents Top 10 at IDFA 2009

Each year, a renowned filmmaker gets the chance to present his or her personal documentary Top 10. These films are screened during the festival. This year the honor goes to Israelian filmmaker Eyal Sivan (1964).

Important themes in Sivan's Top 10 are the working of collective memory, ethics and the representation of history. His own work also focuses on these themes.

Besides his Top 10, IDFA will also screen Sivan's own documentaries. His latest film Jaffa, The Orange Clockwork takes part in the competition for feature-length documentary. During the festival Sivan will give a masterclass in which he will discuss his selection.

In composing a Top 10, Sivan follows in the footsteps of, amongst others, Krzysztof Kieslowski, Ulrich Seidl en Kim Longinotto, who have programmed this regular festival section before.
