Producers synopsis
All of Heddy Honigmann's films are about fighters, people putting up resistance against oblivion and loss.
The Forgotten
is a film about waiters and bartenders in old Lima restaurants who are fighting a silent struggle against the decline of their lives and of their country. All survivors of the last 30 to 40 years of bloody and chaotic history of Peru they tell us what they did to survive the gigantic inflation, the fall of the middle class, the corruption, the violence of Shining Path and that of the army in Peru. Sharp, tender, painful and funny stories are woven together in a documentary about pride and self respect, glory long gone, love, art and politics about a society, crumbling in a world which is out of control.
