Synopsis

Portrait of a Man is a rough but beautiful documentary film about the crisis of a man in his forties and his desire for a better life; its a story of parenthood, alcohol, Finnish man and his desire for love. Portrait of a Man is also an unusually intimate depiction of the relationship between the father and his son. Despite the seriousness of the topic Portrait of a Man includes black humor and situational comedy.

Rithy Panh to present Top 10 at IDFA Cambodian director Rithy Panh (1964, Phnom Penh) is to compile this year’s IDFA Top 10. Rithy Panh broke through in 2003 with his documentary S21, The Khmer Rouge Killing Machine. His new film, The Missing Image, won the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes film festival last week.
