Synopsis
Grozny, capital of Chechnya, after the fierce battle for independence against the Russian Army, is still a devastated city. For hundreds of years, this region has been known as The Wild East, now some refer to it as 'Mafia' country, where anarchy rules. This film offers an intimate portrait of Khoz-Ahmed Noukhajev, the man who started the Chechen Mafia in Moscow at the time of Gorbatshov, financed the uprising against the Russians and is now the strongman behind this new rebellious republic.
Through him we learn about the mystical, proud, but also violent history of the Chechen people. And we get a glimpse of the future, because this region controls the oil pipes from the Caspian Sea, the biggest oil reserves in the world, therefore the future of the Western world.
