the golden globes: hollywood's dirty little secret

Vikram Jayanti, USA, 2003
Synopsis

On Sunday 16 January 2005 the prestigious GOLDEN GLOBES will be awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in Los Angeles. In the last decade the importance of the Golden Globes has increased dramatically as a predictor of the Oscars and is broadcasted worldwide. All the major stars attend and it is the opening of the AWARDS season. In the months to follow we will have Bafta's, Cesars and Oscars.... To warm up for the awards season, this hilarious documentary is a journey into the inner workings of the voting system of the Golden Globes. Are all of the members prestigious journalists? How many people vote? only 96! Who are these people? Stars have lunch with them, studios lavish gifts upon them and everybody at least pretends to take them seriously. But privately most people in Hollywood will tell you, the HFPA is made up of a motley crew of Hollywood bottom feeders more akin to autograph hounds than journalists. But that statue means a lot, so few are willing to tell the true story....
