Synopsis

A nostalgic look at international friendships, forged amid the rubble of World War II, poignantly reminding us of the importance of helping our neighbors in need and honoring our promises. Eddie Hart and Betty Vrancken lived a world apart but both were thrust into a war that changed their lives forever. By 1946, Betty had survived four long years of Nazi occupation and wanted to show her appreciation to the liberators. She adopted the grave of PFC Eddie Hart, an American GI buried in The Netherlands, and promised to visit several times a year. For eleven years, she did just that and wrote Eddie’s sister that his grave was not forgotten. When Betty’s family moved away, she asked her brother, Johan, to keep her promise to Eddie and today, he still honors a man neither he nor his sister ever met. Set in The Netherlands, Germany and the United States, this inspiring, true story reminds us that ordinary people can do most extraordinary things. Narrated by actor Pat Hingle.
