
Three documentaries have been selected for the IBF Europe – Distribution grant, which supports the distribution of co-productions between European and non-European producers.
This year, the IDFA Bertha Fund sought distribution proposals from across the globe, with diverse subject matter ranging from young activists in the Democratic Republic of Congo to an Egyptian holiday resort reeling from the effects of nearby terrorist attacks. For the 2018 IBF Europe - Distribution selection, the Fund considered 6 proposals. In total, an amount of € 90.000 was granted to 3 proposals, altogether aiming to cover distribution in over 9 countries worldwide. This year’s selected projects are:
The selections took place in two rounds—first in March and then again in September. Drawing from across the documentary industry, the selection committees consisted of Andrea Hock (Director Sales Autlook Filmsales GmbH), Peter Jaeger (CEO Jaeger Creative), Stefan Kloos (Founder Kloos & Co. Medien), Anne Vierhout (General Director Cinema Delicatessen), Isabel Arrate Fernandez (Managing Director IDFA Bertha Fund), and Mélanie de Vocht (Project Manager IDFA Bertha Fund).
The IDFA Bertha Fund is designed to stimulate and empower the creative documentary sector in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Middle East and parts of Eastern Europe by supporting innovative documentary projects by talented filmmakers from these regions. Read more about the different grants.
