On February 27, IDFA and Melkweg talk to photographer Willemieke Kars, filmmaker Sophie Dros, and media critic Madeleijn van den Nieuwenhuizen about the representation of gender in art. Admission is free.
In some parts of the world, the dividing lines between genders are slowly starting to blur. How are these changes visible in contemporary art? In the midst of the exhibition 'Curated by Girls: New Femininity' media critic Madeleijn van den Nieuwenhuizen (@Zeikschrift) will talk to documentary filmmaker Sophie Dros and photographer Willemieke Kars. During this second edition of Talent Talks, a collaboration between IDFA and Melkweg, we will explore the topic of gender norms, what this theme means for these makers, and how they approach it in their work.
Illustrated by photos and videos, Dros and Kars will offer insight into their creative processes and sources of inspiration.
Where: Melkweg Expo, Lijnbaansgracht 234a, Amsterdam
Date: Wednesday, February 27
Time: 20:00 - 21:30
