A humorous, bittersweet portrait of three twenty-somethings in a Saharan refugee camp cut off from the rest of the world. Since Morocco annexed the Western Sahara in 1975 and drove the Sahrawi out of their original habitat, the people have been engaged in a struggle for independence that receives hardly any international attention. For decades, life has been going on in these settlements. A boring and hard life, which does not discourage the friends Sidahmed, Zaara, and Taher.
During the side program at 20.00 hrs in the Expo, we talk to experts about the documentary, the almost invisible conflict, and the way in which refugees are portrayed in the media.
This audience favorite of IDFA 2018 follows the two permanent residents of Los Reyes, the oldest skate park in the Chilean capital Santiago. The stray dogs Chola and Football have made this open space full of racing skateboards and noisy teenagers their home. In voice-over we hear the teenagers talking about their problematic lives, which take place in all levels of society. But the beautiful, dreamy images of this film are entirely dedicated to the game between the dogs, who enjoy themselves with a ball, a stick, a stone, and with each other.
Location: Pakhuis de Zwijger, Piet Heinkade 179, 1019 HC Amsterdam
