IDFA Bertha Fund calls for submissions to IBF Classic funding scheme

The IDFA Bertha Fund (IBF) is now accepting entries to IBF Classic, the Fund’s flagship grant program. Eligible filmmakers can submit their documentary project in one of two categories: development or (post-)production support. In addition to funding, selected filmmakers will receive tailored support from IDFA’s Filmmaker Support department and opportunities for connecting with IDFA’s professional network year-round. The application deadline is June 10, 2021.

With its aim of supporting independent and critical artistic voices from underrepresented regions of the world, the IBF Classic funding scheme provides development and (post-)production grants to documentary film directors and producers from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe.

For this funding scheme, the IBF looks forward to receiving a new slate of creative documentary projects that use a strong visual approach to tell compelling stories and have the potential to reach a global audience.

Filmmakers can submit projects in two categories:

    • Project development (maximum contribution €5,000 per project)
    • Production & post-production (maximum contribution €17,500 per project)
