IDFA Bertha Fund supports 13 new projects

The IDFA Bertha Fund has concluded its May 2017 selection round. Seven documentary projects from countries like Rwanda, Syria and India will be supported through the fund's classic scheme. For the IBF Europe category another six projects are selected, among which are The Last Guardian, an Hungarian-Bhutanese co-production and Obstinate, a co-production between Afghanistan and France which was pitched at IDFA Forum last year.

For the May 2017 IBF Classic selection round, the fund considered 321 projects from over 60 different countries. In total, an amount of €75.000 was granted to 7 projects. The committee selected three projects for script and project development and four projects for production and post-production.

For IBF Europe, the fund held a selection round for the International Co-production Support category. The fund considered 22 projects from 11 different MEDIA sub-program countries. All projects in these categories have a director in a developing country and are realized through international co-productions in which at least one European and one non-European producer is involved. In total, an amount of €240.000 was granted to 6 projects.
