Festival history

“I'm better at 3-D modeling food than cooking it, sorry,” announces game designer TJ Hughes (aka Terrifying Jellyfish) in his Twitter bio. It’s worth mentioning in advance that Hughes loves saturated colors and absurd humor. And the main ingredients in his whimsical game Nour, which puts culinary aesthetics under the microscope, are brightly colored 3-D foods.

The game consists of a series of vivid digital eating situations, from coffee and toast at a breakfast table to a bowl of steaming ramen. There’s no mission or ultimate goal. Simply press the buttons and you’ll be playing with your food to your heart’s content. There’s no need to worry about cleaning up—it’s all about experimenting. Each button does something different, but you only find out what by trying. You want a gigantic steak in your soup, hoverboards in the meat grinder, or sugar sprinkles flying out of the shower head? Be curious, press the buttons and see for yourself what unexpected food preparations follow.
