Isidore Block is a 80 years-old street poet who lives in New York. The youngest of four children, Isidore was born in Central Park on Sheep Meadow Filed in 1922. At the age of five Isidore was placed in institutions after his mother was put into psychiatric institute and his father left for Arizona with the family's money. He lived in various Foster homes until the age of 16 when he was left alone in the streets. Since then, Isidore, best known today as Poet-o, has been entertaining the visitors of Central Park by reciting his own poetry and by giving wishes out with his famous Unicorn bell. He survives thanks to the generosity of the Central Park's visitors who buy his poems for a few dollars.
We followed the day-to-day life of Poet-o during a nine month period, establishing an intimacy based on trust and mutual respect. the result of our investigation is a 52 minute documentary that tries to capture the poet's originality and philosophy of life. It is also maybe a thought-provocative reflection on the state of the American dream at the dawn of the new millennium through the eyes of a street artist who has transformed Central Park into his own kingdom.…
