Wherever man cultivates land, birds become his enemies. On farmland and in orchards, on fishfarms and in vegetable gardens people are not exactly happy to see birds. But also in cities birds cause people inconvenience by their droppings and stench. From time immemorial people have been trying to scare off birds: with the traditional scarecrow, a cat in a cage, fake birds of prey, laser guns and sound tapes with bird distress calls. There seem to be no really successful methods. VOGELVRIJ describes the current state of affairs in the battle between man and bird. Will the final solution to the 'bird problem' ever be found?
