Festival history
This film tells the story, in reverse (the title, spelled backwards, reads “rabbit” in Dutch), of 20,000 albino rabbits on a breeding farm. .NIJNOK uses an alienating style to describe the process from the rabbits' birth to their departure to another place. The fluent, backward movements of both breeders and rabbits evoke a sense of extreme distance, but at the same time a strange commitment to the furry animals' fate. The farmers carry out their monotonous activities day in and day out. They feed the rabbits, remove dead bodies, relocate animals and inseminate the mother rabbits. All movements are repeated so often that the filmmaker creates an atmosphere of abstraction. .tibbar/.nijnok is rewarded with the Golden Calf for best short documentary 2004
