Festival history
An ode to love in the time of crisis, unrest, agitation, violence, pain and hope. is set against the backdrop of the massive street protests in Spain against evictions and the dismantling of social rights between 2010 and 2013. It's about two women who can't live with or without each other: one who misses her child and the other who hangs poetic texts between the leaves of trees – "Take a leaf, be the wind." There are shots of slogans, drums, police lines, a half-empty cup of coffee and abandoned streets. There's people who suffer, and heavily armed riot police cheering as they take off their helmets in solidarity. Comprised of both documentary and dramatized footage, this film is a loving humanitarian piece that resulted from the icy political reality that lacks all aspects of humanity. Intimate and poetic, personal and engaged, this documentary is carefully framed and shot very close to its human subjects, and accompanied by contemplative music and poetry.
