n.a.
In this personal contemplation of the eighth commandment, Heddy Honigmann talks with thieves and their victims about stealing and being robbed. From petty thefts by adolescents (lipstick, coffee, toothpaste), via the explanation of the shell trick, we go to violent street robberies, missing people in Argentina, and fare dodging on the bus. Man is vulnerable, because all kinds of things can be stolen from him, immaterial matters (a feeling of safety, the heart, a life) weighing heavier than material ones. Heddy Honigmann’s documentaries have won many press and audience awards at festivals, both in the Netherlands and abroad. Last year, she was presented with the IDFA audience award for CRAZY, a documentary about the comfort of music to Dutch UN soldiers returning from war zones. CRAZY also won a Golden Calf at this year’s Dutch Film Festival.
