In 2018 IDFA honors the work of Czech director Helena Třeštíková (1949).
A household name in Eastern Europe, Helena Třeštíková is an experienced filmmaker with an authentic style, known for following her characters for long periods of time - often more than 10 years. For IDFA 2018, Třeštíková compiled a Top 10 of her favorite documentaries, and presented them in a public Filmmaker Talk. IDFA also presented a retrospective of her own work, including René and Katka.
