How to submit your documentary film for IDFA 2020
On this page, you can find all practical information about submitting your documentary film for the next festival edition. To submit a performance or interactive/immersive new media project to IDFA DocLab, IDFA on Stage, and/or Paradocs, please refer to our separate info page.
Our two film submission deadlines are:
- May 1st, 2020 – for all films completed between August 1st, 2019 and April 30th, 2020.
- August 1st, 2020 – for all films completed after April 30th, 2020.
Please note that performances and interactive/immersive new media projects have a submission deadline of July 1st, 2020. Read more about how to submit these projects here.
We encourage you to submit your work as soon as it is completed.
How to submit your film
Go to MyIDFA (in the section ‘My Entries’) to submit the online entry form and pay the entry fee. Please read the regulations carefully before filling out the entry form. If your film is selected, we encourage you to provide more accessible film formats when possible. We will contact you about whether you have a version available with full English subtitles, Closed Captions and/or Descriptive Sound. For general information, please refer to our accessibility page.
Closed Captions (CC): Display of text on a screen to provide additional or interpretive information.
Descriptive Sound (DS): A digitally compatible described narration system for people who are blind and visually impaired with headphones.
