Inclusion & Solidarity at IDFA

A festival where at least 50% of the films and new media projects are by female makers; programming that features a large number of films from under-represented regions; competition juries made up of at least 50% women, with jurors drawn from all over the world.

These are just a few of our goals. At IDFA, however, we believe that meeting quotas in our programming is not enough. As the largest documentary film festival in the world, we are in a position to strive for lasting change; change that means a complete restructuring of the film industry as it currently is.

As we work toward a more inclusive reality, we invite you to take a look at our progress. Below are some of our recent efforts in the fight to be more inclusive and stand in solidarity with marginalized filmmakers, film professionals, and film lovers around the world.
