With civil society shrinking in many parts of the world, documentary filmmakers are increasingly struggling to make their voices heard, leading to their arrest, imprisonment and sometimes even murder. To seek solidarity with these filmmakers at risk, IDFA hosts a talk inviting filmmakers to share their experiences and examine together with other stakeholders how to come to a coordinated strategy for action that serves filmmakers at risk most effectively.

Guests: Andrea Kuhn (Human Rights Film Network), Bero Beyer (International Film Festival Rotterdam), Cara Mertes (JustFilms, Ford Foundation), Claire Aguilar (International Documentary Association), Ed O'Donovan (Frontline Defenders), Ivor Stodolsky and Marita Muukkonen (Artists at Risk/Perpetuum Mobile), Jess Search (Doc Society), Julie Trebault (Artists at Risk Connection, PEN America), Maxim Tuula (Marx Films), Rasmus Steen (International Media Support), Rebecca Lichtenfeld (Bertha Foundation), Steven Markovitz (Big World Cinema) and Tuki Jencquel (Oninokia Filmproduktion).
