WELCOME TO IDFA

Since its launch in 1988 IDFA has been one of the world's leading documentary film festivals, dedicated to the exhibition and promotion of ground-breaking creative documentaries. Every year, IDFA welcomes some 3,000 international documentary professionals in Amsterdam for eleven days of films, interactive documentaries, industry events, panel discussions and much more.

Accreditation for IDFA 2016 is now open. You can submit your accreditation here; the final deadline is October 10. The last submission deadline for films and interactive documentary projects was August 1.

Markets & Funding

Alongside the festival, two documentary markets take place in November: Docs for Sale and the IDFA Forum. The IDFA Bertha Fund stimulates the documentary climate in developing countries.

Training & Education

To stimulate new talent and high level documentary production, IDFA organizes workshops and training programs for up-and-coming filmmakers, producers and digital media artists. » Read more

Sergei Loznitsa to present Top 10 August 30, 2016 | This year’s IDFA Top 10 will be compiled by Ukrainian director Sergei Loznitsa. His latest documentary, Austerlitz, will have its world premiere at the Venice film festival and will screen at IDFA as part of a retrospective of Loznitsa's work.

IDFA Bertha Fund Concludes May 2016 Selection July 12, 2016 | Eleven documentary projects from countries including Sudan, Chile, Syria, Cuba, Afghanistan and Ukraine will be supported through IDFA Bertha Fund - Classic. The selection includes new projects by Maite Alberdi, Alisa Kovalenko and Manolo Sarmiento.
