In an era when every week sees two churches closing down, a vicar goes door-to-door in the newly built Amsterdam suburb of IJburg, and has encounters with the residents, as he tries to probe what faith means to them. Suburban God paints a many-coloured portrait of the IJburg borough, but shows too the full depth of ideas about faith and the meaning of life, that are encompassed in modern society.
