A Star Falls Under an Acid Sky (O stea cade sub un cer de foc)
Artistic Research Week 2025 | Master of Film | Part of the Keep an Eye Filmacademie Festival
Greta and Sylvia spend two nights together in Amsterdam, just before the new Romanian presidential elections. As the political climate back home stirs old fears, they confront the shadow of their family’s historical ties to far-right ideologies. Amid late-night conversations and quiet tensions, they reflect on how history still lives in their bodies - through inherited trauma, reproductive rights, and gendered expectations.
The two sisters navigate their fractured inner worlds through sounds, images, and texts. Sylvia, processing a recent abortion, seeks ways to cope with her pain, while Greta, displaced in Amsterdam, becomes a maternal figure for her. Their reunion becomes a delicate dance between separation and fusion, oscillating between closeness and distance.
Their meeting exposes how migration and ideological ghosts persist across generations, forcing them to navigate both personal and political inheritances. In this evolving landscape, the sisters confront the tension between resistance and compliance in a society on the brink of fascism.
