Amare by Léa Giordano

Amare is an experimental short film that attempts to portray the essence of a relationship. Through a voice-over drawn from recorded conversations, it traces the bond between two sisters whose early childhood was spent apart.

Structured as auto-fiction, the film moves between both sisters voices, circling time, physics, the sea, and what it means to grow into womanhood. Amare draws on the tradition of the amateur home film, from the Latin amator, one who loves, and on the material logic of analog cinema, where light imprints memory onto a physical surface that can be returned to.

From that early fracture to a shared frame on a moving vessel, the film explores the circulation of memory between people, the limits of what images can recover, and the desire to give a relationship a form that outlasts it.

Metaphysical Way of Measuring Silence by Sojeong Lee

Metaphysical Way of Measuring Silence is a poetic essay film about the silence inherited through three generations of women. A director, camera in hand, heads to a village on the island where her mother's family came from. As an act of listening to the stories untold and invisible, she captures the ruins and traces of distant memories. The film itself becomes a letter to her mother which cannot be sent, addressing inherited trauma, erased histories, and the unnamed violence carried in the body. Drawing on the materiality of memory, the cellular continuity between grandmother, mother, and daughter, the film asks how much of what we carry belongs to us, and how much was inherited without our knowing. Like migratory birds navigating by the earth's magnetic field, the filmmaker searches for a sense of where she belongs, and where she comes from.
