Harun Farocki Exhibition
Description

Systems for Agitation features a free exhibition of three of video-installations by Harun Farovcki: Filmbooks (1986), Interface (1995), and Counter-Music (2004). Together, they form an insight in Farocki's way of analysing how images are produced and reproduced, constructed and consumed.

The exhibition also features a reading space with publications by and about Farocki, offering the opportunity to familiarise with his teachings and writings.

Admission: Free, no reservations required
Opening hours: The exhibition can be visited alongside our public programming on Wednesday and Friday from 16:30 and on Sunday afternoon from 12:30. The closing time may vary depending on the end of the final screening.

The exhibition is part of Systems for Agitation: A Harun Farocki Retrospective bringing together a selection of Farocki’s films and installations, alongside a series of collaborative events. From 17 April to 24 May.

Interface

In this short film, Harun Farocki offers a glimpse into his working method. Seated at an editing table, he analyzes how existing images take on new meaning in relation to one another, and how editing, for him, is a way of thinking.
Filmbooks

Filmbooks

Harun Farocki Retrospective | In this short film, filmmaker Harun Farocki analyzes a number of books on film. How do they relate to the films they discuss? How do they translate film into the pages of a book, and what is lost in the process?
Counter-Music

Counter-Music

Harun Farocki Retrospective | Farocki portrays the 20th-century city as a mechanized body, with subway lines, sewerage, and telecommunications networks as its organ systems. Thousands of surveillance cameras monitor its functioning. Human beings have been reduced to extras.
