Songs from the Compost & When the body says yes
Songs from the Compost & When the body says yes
Description

This evening brings together two films by visual artists who each choreograph human bodies to visualise connections and relationships. Through videos, performances, photographs, and installations, melanie bonajo examines current conundrums of co-existence in a crippling capitalist system. When the Body Says Yes (2024) takes the idea that touch can be a powerful remedy for the modern epidemic of loneliness as a starting point. In Songs from the compost: mutating bodies, imploding stars (2020), Eglė Budvytytė shares a hypnotic exploration of nonhuman forms of consciousness.

Shaping Bonds is a five-day program running from 19 to 23 March that delves into the material relationships shaping our world. Through films, installations, and the immersive experience Symbiosis, it reimagines our physical surroundings—and our place within them.

Songs from the Compost: mutating bodies, imploding stars

This poetic and hypnotic exploration of nonhuman forms of consciousness investigates different dimensions of symbiotic life in the forest: interdependence, surrender, dying and decay. It demonstrates the necessity of intertwined networks between human and non-human beings for nurturing interspecies relationships.
