Together with Pleasant Place, a growing collection of publications about the art of gardening, IDFA Meets presents an afternoon of film and close observation of the natural world. Introduced by botanical philosopher Norbert Peeters, we begin with 7 Walks with Mark Brown, in which botanist and gardener Mark Brown pursues his dream of recreating a primary forest in his own garden. Along the French coast, he studies and identifies the plants growing there; the film’s intimate close-ups and Brown’s observations unfold into something between science and poetry.
After the screening, there will be time to browse and purchase the latest issue of Pleasant Place, before heading over to Johannapark — the secluded community garden bordering the Vondelpark, usually closed to the public — for a guided tour with garden designer Cilia Prenen.
The tour is free of charge, but please reserve a ticket (see the bottom half of the blue ticket block) as capacity is limited. It forms the second part of the program and is intended for screening attendees.
