Sonic Acts: Artist talk with Femke Herregraven and Sebastién Robert
Sonic Acts: Artist talk with Femke Herregraven and Sebastién Robert
Description

An in-depth conversation with Femke Herregraven and Sébastien Robert on the topic of simulation, environmental collapse, and auroral sound in the context of the exhibition Sounds of Skies, Forests of Instability.

On view in the exhibition are Herregraven’s The Evacuated and Robert’s All But Silent. The Evacuated presents a continuously rewriting simulation of a Dutch forest, where memory, time, and continuity are unstable and subject to mutation. All But Silent investigates the sound of the northern lights through field research, scientific measurement, and Indigenous cosmologies, examining how listening can become a way of engaging with phenomena that resist direct representation.

Drawing directly from their long-term research trajectories, they will discuss the methods, conceptual frameworks, and wider contexts that informThe Evacuated and All But Silent, guiding audiences deeper into the exhibition. The conversation is moderated by Rachael Rakes.
