Festival history
The modern Danish society is one of abundance. Poverty is absent in this country. Expensive shops and abounding display windows tempt the people into buying more and more. A car is a status symbol that takes the Danes to recreation areas over recently constructed highways. Jorgen Roos puts an imaginary bomb under this affluence that is taken for granted. In effective, partly metaphorical images, he shows how the certainties that make the average Dane feel protected, in fact depend on vulnerable communication systems and fallible technological achievements. In addition, he shows how wealth does not necessarily lead to a more genteel mentality: we see how Danes shamelessly misbehave in a holiday resort. The music and the voice-over in the film once again underline the pseudo-certainties characterising modern-day societ
