Festival history

A surprising and exciting anime short, in which a young couple has to fight killer robots to save their baby and give her a better life.

In Homeland, people have been replaced by cyborgs, thus eliminating ethnicity, religion and other factors that could infuse prejudice. Making this story of fighting evil and searching for freedom more relatable and universal.

By the unusual mix of Japanese animation, fantasy and the subject of migration, filmmaker Tabarak Allah Abbas has creatively managed to create a fresh and new perspective on this familiar narrative. Liberating refugees from their cliché role as victims, but also turning her parents into superheroes.

A moving love letter from an eternally grateful daughter.
