With epic proportions of Shakespearean tragedy, Queen of Versailles follows billionaire couple Jackie and David Siegel; an ex-beauty pageant star and a real estate magnate, on their quest to build their dream house. A 90,000 square foot “home” and playground for the couples’ eight children; a mini-kingdom including 5 million dollars worth of imported marble, fairytale staircases and wet and wild pools inspired by the eponymous Versailles Palace in France. Shot over two years and in the wake of the economic crisis the film is an ultimate display of decadence and a parable about ambition and loss.
