Have you ever told the new generation what future you’re going to leave them? The world is struggling with a climate crisis and other critical issues; what will it look like in 30 years’ time? This one-to-one performance gives you the chance to get into a conversation with a teenager who’s about 16 years old.

These young people are eager to pose their questions, to stimulate the visitor to fantasize about the future, and to make them aware of their role in it. Each session is unique and produces its own story. What will the state of affairs be in 2052? Doom or new hope?

Horizon is a project by Opening Statement, which creates performances dealing with major social issues. The theater collective believes that art can play an important role in the debate. In Horizon, this conversation has become the performance itself: theater as a form of activism.

International version co-commissioned by IDFA DocLab and National Theatre.

Presented by IDFA DocLab in collaboration with De Brakke Grond.
