Sagan om livet
Finnish photographer Lennart Nilsson acquired a reputation through his series for Time Life en National Geographic. In 1978 he made the film JOURNEY THROUGH THE HUMAN BODY, in which he 'travels' through the human body with a microscopic camera. After perfecting the techniques used in this film, he started working on the four-year production of SAGAN OM LIVET. This film follows the origin of human life from the moment of conception. It won several prizes and was broadcast on TV in more than thirty countries. SAGAN OM LIVET contains the first sequence ever of the fission in a newly inseminated egg-cell. For this unique film Nilsson utilized different recording techniques, like working with an infrared camera. He also uses animation techniques and video effects to follow the development of the foetus until birth.
