Katja is 16 years old and takes piano lessons. She reads the notes with her fingers, in Braille, because she is blind. As the teacher plays an excerpt of Bach, Katja tells in her own words how she perceives the music, which she associates with the first day of spring - when the cold of winter is still in the air. Just as poetic is eight-year-old Catherine, who is also blind and listens to Katja's piano lesson with her mother. Mother and daughter form a symbiosis, which demonstrates how much guidance the quick-witted Catherine still needs. In various fragments, the film visualises the sensory perceptions of both girls through their words, gestures and facial expressions.
