These 'IDFA films' have been selected for this year's Berlinale
IDFA is proud to share that two films with a rich history at IDFA are set to premiere at the 76th edition of the Berlinale –the international film festival in Berlin– running from February 12 to 22, 2026. Discover the films, that were previously pitched at IDFA Forum.
Two Mountains Weighing Down My Chest
In Two Mountains Weighing Down My Chest, an aspiring Chinese artist drifts between Berlin’s overwhelming queer scene and her traditional family in Beijing. With wit and insight, the film follows her search for identity and belonging in a globalised yet polarised world.
Two Mountains Weighing Down My Chest by Viv Li was pitched at IDFA Forum 2021, after the director participated in IDFA's International Project Space with her film project that same year. In 2020, Li also participated in IDFAcademy, IDFA's training program for emerging film makers. At Berlinale, her film will be screened within the Panorama section, a selection dedicated to unconventional cinema.

Crocodile
In Crocodile, the young artists' collective The Critics in Nigeria conjures, with makeshift gear, their own sci-fi spectacles, chronicling their reality while blasting into wild imagined worlds. A vibrant documentary and a gleeful ode to the power of (self)invention.
Crocodile by The Critics and Pietra Brettkelly was pitched at IDFA Forum 2024. At Berlinale, the film will be screened in the Forum section, which stands for reflections on the medium of film, social and artistic discourse, and aesthetic obstinacy.
We warmly congratulate all the filmmakers!
