The Oscar nominations have been announced, and we are proud to share that two titles previously selected for IDFA are now in the running for an Oscar. One of them, Cutting Through Rocks, also received support from the IDFA Bertha Fund.

Nominated in the category 'Documentary Feature':

  • Cutting Through Rocks by Sara Khaki and Mohammadreza Eyni, about Sara from Iran, who, as the first female council member of her rural village, is determined to break with patriarchal traditions. Winner of the NPO Doc IDFA Audience Award 2025.

Nominated in the category 'Documentary Short Film':

  • Perfectly a Strangeness (IDFA 2024) by Alison McAlphine, about three donkeys in the desert and the beauty that lies in the immense or the minuscule, and about the way we look at animals.

A heartfelt congratulations to the filmmakers and their teams! Winners will be announced on March 15.
