Victor Kossakovsky: 'A' Trilogy

Victor Kossakovsky: 'A' Trilogy

With his highly innovative visual language, Victor Kossakovsky captures the vast power and beauty of nature and through it, questions humanity's place on Earth. This December, Het Documentaire Paviljoen will screen his 'A' trilogy.

In the first film of the 'A' series, ¡Vivan las antipodas! (2011), Kossakovsky asks a timeless question: where would I end up if I dug a tunnel straight through the Earth from this exact point? Leading to a journey of beautiful discoveries, the film reveals magical connections between the world’s most distant places.

Aquarella (2018) is a lyrical meditation on water in all its forms and shades of blue. From its captivating mysticism and movement to its most extreme, destructive powers, Kossakovsky examines one of nature’s most important and elemental forces.

The trilogy concludes with Architecton (2024), a visual symphony celebrating the history of concrete and stone. It raises fundamental questions on how we build and what we destroy, illuminating that the architectural choices of today, will dictate the ways in which the world is inhabited tomorrow.
