IDFAcademy returns full force to IDFA this year, offering an intensive four-day program for selected filmmakers during the festival. Emerging documentary directors and producers who have proven their talent on a national scale and are ready to expand their careers internationally can now apply for the popular talent development program. The accreditation deadline is September 1.
Taking place from November 18 to 20 in Amsterdam, this year’s program promises to be particularly tight-knit, with fewer talents to be selected than in previous years. In turn, IDFAcademy participants can expect an enhanced offer of round table discussions, intimate group sessions, and one-on-one meetups, all geared towards learning about the international documentary market and current industry trends. Larger sessions, such as masterclasses with well-known directors and leading industry professionals, will underscore the smaller sessions, helping participants develop a broad view of the sector.
IDFAcademy during IDFA is set to take place in person this year, with activities and meetings happening on site in Amsterdam. To ensure that all selected talents can participate, IDFA’s Filmmaker Support department is also working on alternative IDFAcademy online program, equally close-knit, specially for participants who are unable to travel.
