The IDFA Bertha Fund is now accepting project submissions to the IBF Europe – Minority Co-production funding scheme. Read more about the grant program and apply by June 22, 2022.
With this call, the Fund seeks to encourage European producers to participate as a minority co-producer in high-quality feature-length documentary projects by filmmakers from Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Oceania. IBF Europe – Minority Co-production caters to documentary projects in all stages of production, offering a maximum contribution of €40,000 per project.
Recently supported films in this category include the above-pictured Alis (dir. Clare Weiskopf and Nicolas van Hemelryck), The Last Shelter (dir. Ousmane Samassekou), and Our Memory Belongs to Us (dir. Rami Farah).
In line with the Fund’s mission, the selection committee will pay particular attention to supporting producers from countries with limited national co-production funding schemes, or from countries that are not yet fully involved in international co-productions.
Submission regulations remain identical to previous years, except for two important changes we'd like to draw your attention to.
As always, be sure to check the complete list of MEDIA sub-program countries and the IBF Europe country list to see if you and your project are eligible.
The deadline to submit a project for the upcoming selection round is June 22, 2022. For the regulations, entry form, and submission FAQs, please visit our info page.
