More infoThe winners of the various awards in IDFA’s competition programmes were announced on Wednesday evening at the awards ceremony of the 30th edition of IDFA in the Stadsschouwburg in Amsterdam.
The Other Side of Everything by Mila Turajlic won the IDFA Award for Best Feature-Length Documentary. The IDFA Special Jury Award for Feature-Length Documentary went to The Deminer by Hogir Hirori and Shinwar Kamal.
The award for the best Dutch documentary was picked up by Leonard Retel Helmrich’s The Long Season. Alicia by Maasja Ooms took the IDFA Special Jury Award for Dutch Documentary.
At the beginning of the evening, Ester Gould also presented the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds Documentary Stipend (€ 50,000) to filmmaker Reber Dosky (The Sniper of Kobani, Radio Kobanî and Meryem). This 50,000-Euro stipend towards the making of a new documentary was donated by an anonymous donor, who has made the stipend possible through the Cultuurfonds.
The festival runs until Sunday. The winner of the VPRO IDFA Audience Award (€ 5,000) will be announced on Friday evening, 24 November.
