In cinemas
Primary school children, students in secondary education and intermediate vocational education can watch IDFA documentaries on the big screen year round.
Every edition of IDFA includes over a hundred school screenings. These screenings are non-profit and can only be visited by schools. On every festival weekday, mostly in the early mornings, a special selection of films is screened in different theaters in Amsterdam and other cities in The Netherlands. Over 10.000 Dutch primary and secondary school students come to IDFA every year.
Since the opening of Het Documentaire Paviljoen, a new cultural hub in the heart of Amsterdam, schools can attend IDFA school screenings year round. The programming at the pavilion has a different dynamic and allows for more breathing space and attention. Centralising these activities in our own space presents an opportunity to foster more interaction among participants.
