Festival history
In the second episode of the British series AFRICA’S CHILD, EUREKA! LIVING WITH LIONS, we follow a Kenyan schoolboy, a member of the Maasai tribe, in his daily routine. Every morning, he drinks sweet tea with his mother and seven brothers and sisters, tends the goats and then goes to school. After school, he tends the goats, and then there is time to talk with his father about life and politics. His father is the boss and his mother does all the work, together with his sister, who cannot go to school because they cannot afford it. His mother does the housekeeping, she repairs their hut if necessary and, together with the other women in the village, makes trinkets to sell to tourists. Every Sunday, they have a church service beneath a tree just outside the village, where the Maasai learn that some of their customs are no good.
