The Paramos of Columbia is a unique and important ecosystem. Small farmers have lived in this special biome for generations, today international companies want to mine it. The local farmers are vulnerable and a corrupt government systematically drives them out of their land into the cities. In the historic province of Boyaca, home to the unusual water producing paramos, a few farmers take on the struggle against a powerful and unrelenting machine determined to turn the area into a coal extraction site. With breathtaking photography, Sumerce portrays a universal story, the fight for survival of an old culture and the habitat that has been its home.
