Festival history
In 1992 the war that broke out in Tadzhikistan chased the ancient gipsy tribe of the Luli away from those parts. One hundred and seventy members were killed during a massacre. Those having a lucky escape took to their heels. They spent two and a half weeks in a fairly prosperous Siberian village, before getting the compelling request from the authorities to quickly move on. In the short documentary, with which he graduated from the Moscow Film School this year, the 25-year-old Evgenij Solomin concentrates on the fate of the Luli. They are currently living in tents and their children are begging for money. Because they are not considered refugees but gipsies, the police are free to oust them everywhere.
