Festival history
Ceux de saint-cyr is a documentary about l'Ecole Speciale Militaire de Saint-Cyr, a famous military academy. The top of the French corps of officers receive their training at this school, which was founded in 1802 by Napoleon. Philippe Costantini was first in getting permission to make a film about the school. Special emphasis lies on the rituals and traditions that have been maintained by the school for nearly two centuries now. These are passed on to the new recruits by the veterans every year. Some of these rituals may seem a little odd to an outsider, but for the cadets they are part of the famous 'esprit de corps'. Since many of the rituals are executed according to a fixed pattern, Costantini has filmed the final year of one specific levy. As a matter of fact, he himself stayed at the school for almost a whole year. Ceux de saint-cyr is an inside story about the life of the Saint-Cyr cadets and the feelings they experience.
