Festival history
MOSCOW WOMEN - THE ECHOES OF YAROSLAVNA was filmed in Moscow by a Russian-Estonian crew. The documentary focusses on women: their work, their relationships, their creative minds, their stamina, and above all their Russian soul that survived the centuries and offers inspiration for hope for the future. The film consists of seven parts, each containing one or more portraits of women. The different parts are linked together by 'Yaroslavna's Lament' from The Story of Prince Igor's Crusade, a Russian epic from the 12th century. Yaroslavna is the archetypical Russian woman, whose inner strength, compassion and hope reverberate among present-day Moscow women.
