Festival history
is a montage of previously unreleased documentary footage shot in the former USSR, Germany, and the United States that sheds new light upon well-known, although denied historical events in the Soviet Union. The film's protagonists are the heroes and antiheroes of history, those who had the fate of the world in their hands and those who became the victims. Stalin, the Rosenbergs, Khrushchev, Kennedy, and Gagarin are a few of the main figures in this political drama, which ends with a hopeful epilogue. But does not only deal with the past. It also makes reference to current world politics, the Cold War in its present state, and the desire for universal peace.
